Make Home a Place you LOVE

Over nearly the last 2 years home has taken on a new form , a whole new meaning really.
Home is still the place to regroup , recharge, and connect with family and friends , but is also now a place we educate our kids , work, and exercise. So it has so many more, likely, permanent functions. With that in mind , how do you make a home that you LOVE to come home to? Here are some tips on how to achieve that!

PRIORITIZE

This can be thought of in a multitude of ways. It can also be called categorizing which we already do, really. We have designated areas of what we do in each space. An example would be, we eat at the dining table and the kids do their homework there also. By designating areas you can plan them out specifically for your needs. We do this for our clients all the time. An example would be an entertaining space , if our clients like to entertain we create a hybrid space between kitchen and the room that guests will hang out. This space holds all the entertaining tools like , glasses , bottles, snacks, plates. This way there is a natural flow, so entertaining and having guests is easy on everyone. You take that principle and apply it to any designated area in your home , kids space , office , gym and make a plan to incorporate it in a more deliberate and seamless way .

ADD COMFORT

Moments of comfort go a long way. We each have things that bring us comfort and making sure those things are present can really help. Keeping your favorite books in close vicinity, a place for our furry family to hang, even your favorite blanket that if anyone else touches it’s a serious problem! You get the point though right? Those elements are what make your home feel like a retreat so always include those.

COLORS

The Colors of your home greatly affect the way you feel about home. There is an entire psychological reaction associated with colors in certain spaces. Even the level of saturation of a color has an impact. As you may well already know just picking a color is only a small part of this process. Make sure you are taking that paint chip or other sample and thinking how will this react in your home at a much larger or more appropriate scale.

SIMPLIFY

Less is more!!! That is a deliberate principle we live by in our design firm. Even if your style is not super clean this principle can be put to work for you. “LCAD Style my home” is something we are loving right now , it’s the call to simplify my home but with the La Casa Azul Design flair! Our clients all lead very busy lives and an organized and pulled together space helps them with that. So our best advise is to KISS it. ( Keep- it-sooo-simple) . You will never regret that choice because you can always add more as you see fit down the road.
